Choose a location for your fountain. The best location is one that receives plenty of sunlight, as this will ensure that your fountain will run efficiently. Once you have chosen a location, level the ground and create a hole for the fountain basin.
Place the fountain basin in the hole. Make sure that the basin is level and that the top of the basin is flush with the ground. Fill the basin with water.
Place the solar water pump in the fountain basin. The pump should be submerged in the water and should be facing the sun. Connect the tubing to the pump and run it to the water reservoir.
Fill the water reservoir with water. The water reservoir should be placed higher than the fountain basin so that the water can flow back into the basin by gravity.
