How To Build An Outdoor Plant Stand

Outdoor plant stands are a great way to add some extra greenery to your patio or garden. They can also be used to create a focal point or to add height and interest to your landscape. Building your own plant stand is a relatively easy project that can be completed in a few hours. Here are the steps on how to build an outdoor plant stand:

Materials You'll Need:

  • 4 pieces of 2x4 lumber, each cut to 24 inches long
  • 4 pieces of 2x4 lumber, each cut to 18 inches long
  • 8 pieces of 1x4 lumber, each cut to 24 inches long
  • 8 pieces of 1x4 lumber, each cut to 18 inches long
  • 16 wood screws, 2 inches long
  • Drill
  • Screwdriver
  • Level

Instructions:

Step 1: Assemble the base

Attach the four 2x4 lumber pieces that are 24 inches long together using the wood screws. Make sure that the pieces are flush with each other and that they form a square. Measure 6 inches from each corner and mark it. Drill pilot holes at the marks and attach the four 1x4 lumber pieces that are 24 inches long to form the base.

Step 2: Assemble the sides

Attach the four 2x4 lumber pieces that are 18 inches long together using the wood screws. Make sure that the pieces are flush with each other and that they form a square. Measure 6 inches from each corner and mark it. Drill pilot holes at the marks and attach the four 1x4 lumber pieces that are 18 inches long to form the sides.

Step 3: Attach the sides to the base

Place the sides on top of the base and align them with the edges. Drill pilot holes through the sides and into the base, and then attach the sides to the base using the wood screws.

Step 4: Add the shelves

Cut two pieces of 1x4 lumber to the desired length for the shelves. Place the shelves on top of the sides and align them with the edges. Drill pilot holes through the shelves and into the sides, and then attach the shelves to the sides using the wood screws. Repeat this step to add additional shelves as desired.

Step 5: Finish the plant stand

Sand the plant stand down to remove any rough edges. You can then paint or stain the plant stand to match your outdoor décor or leave it natural.
