Creating a Backyard Bowling Alley for Family Fun

10 empty plastic bottles (16 oz or larger)

Setting Up the Pins

Start by painting or spraying the plastic bottles white. Once they are dry, use a permanent marker or paint pen to draw bowling pin stripes on them. Arrange the pins in a triangle formation, with the front pin about 6 feet from the starting line.

Creating the Lane

Use duct tape to create the bowling lane. Start by marking the starting line on the ground with a piece of tape. Then, lay down strips of tape to define the boundaries of the lane. The lane should be about 2 feet wide and 15-20 feet long.

Playing the Game

To play backyard bowling, simply roll the ball down the lane and try to knock down as many pins as possible. You can keep score just like in regular bowling. If you knock down all 10 pins in one roll, it's a strike! If you knock down all 10 pins in two rolls, it's a spare. You can also play variations of the game, such as gutterball or duckpin bowling.
