How to Build an Outdoor Bench

Materials:

2x6 pressure-treated lumber (for the seat and back)

2x4 pressure-treated lumber (for the legs and supports)

3/4-inch galvanized bolts

Washers

Nuts

Wood screws

Steps:

Cut the lumber. The seat and back of the bench will be made from 2x6 lumber. The legs and supports will be made from 2x4 lumber. Cut the lumber to the following lengths:

Assemble the legs and supports. Take two of the 2x4 legs and attach them to the ends of one of the 2x4 supports using 3/4-inch bolts. Repeat this step to assemble the other two legs and support.
Attach the seat to the legs and supports. Place the seat on top of the legs and supports, and align the edges. Drill pilot holes through the seat and into the legs and supports. Secure the seat with wood screws.
Attach the back to the legs and supports. Position the back on top of the legs and supports, and align the edges. Drill pilot holes through the back and into the legs and supports. Secure the back with wood screws.
Finish the bench. Sand the bench to remove any splinters or rough edges. You can also apply a stain or sealant to protect the wood from the elements.

Your outdoor bench is now complete! Enjoy your new seating area.

Tips:

If you want a longer bench, you can add more sections. Simply repeat the steps above, and attach the additional sections to the existing bench.
