Build the Oven Walls

The oven walls are made of fire bricks. Start by laying a row of fire bricks around the perimeter of the foundation. Use mortar to hold the bricks in place. Continue laying rows of fire bricks, staggering the joints as you go. The oven walls should be about 2 feet high.

Insulate the Oven

To insulate the oven, apply a layer of insulation to the inside of the walls. The insulation can be made of vermiculite, perlite, or another type of heat-resistant material. Apply the insulation in a thick layer, at least 2 inches thick.

Install the Roof

The roof of the bread oven is made of metal roofing. Cut the metal roofing to the size of the oven opening and install it over the insulation. Secure the metal roofing with screws.

Install the Chimney

The chimney is an important part of the bread oven as it allows the smoke to escape. Install the chimney at the top of the oven, using mortar to hold it in place. The chimney should be about 1 foot tall.

Cure the Oven

Before using the bread oven, it is important to cure it. This involves slowly heating the oven to a high temperature and then letting it cool down gradually. To cure the oven, start by building a small fire in the oven. Gradually increase the size of the fire over the course of a few hours. Once the oven is hot, let it cool down slowly.

Baking Bread in Your Outdoor Bread Oven

Once your bread oven is cured, you can start baking bread. To bake bread in your outdoor bread oven, preheat the oven to a temperature of about 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, place your bread dough in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown.
