Outdoor Lamp Post Light Sensor Replacement

Outdoor lamp post lights are a great way to add security and ambiance to your property. They can also be a great way to save energy, as they can be equipped with sensors that turn the lights on only when they're needed.

If the sensor on your outdoor lamp post light is not working properly, it can be a real nuisance. The light may not turn on when you need it to, or it may stay on all the time, wasting energy. Fortunately, replacing a lamp post light sensor is a relatively easy task that can be completed in a few minutes.

Here are the steps on how to replace an outdoor lamp post light sensor:

Turn off the power to the light. This can be done by turning off the circuit breaker or fuse that powers the light.
Remove the light fixture from the lamp post. This is usually done by unscrewing the nuts or bolts that hold the fixture in place.
Locate the sensor. The sensor is usually located on the back of the light fixture. It is a small, black or gray box with wires attached to it.
Disconnect the wires from the sensor. Use a pair of pliers to gently squeeze the connectors on the wires and pull them off of the sensor.
Connect the wires to the new sensor. Push the wires onto the connectors on the new sensor until they click into place.
Screw the new sensor into place. Use a screwdriver to tighten the screws that hold the sensor in place.
Reattach the light fixture to the lamp post. Screw the nuts or bolts that hold the fixture in place.
Turn on the power to the light. The light should now turn on when it detects motion.
