How To Make A Small Outdoor Water Fountain

The gentle sound of trickling water can add a touch of tranquility to any outdoor space. Building a small outdoor water fountain is a relatively simple project that can be completed in a weekend. With a few basic materials and tools, you can create a beautiful and functional water feature that will provide years of enjoyment.

Materials:

Basin or container to hold the water
Pump to circulate the water
Tubing to connect the pump to the fountain
Rocks or gravel to cover the pump and tubing
Optional: solar panel to power the pump

Tools:

Drill
Drill bit (size will depend on the tubing you are using)
Scissors
Measuring tape
Level

Instructions:

Choose a location for your fountain. The fountain should be placed in a spot where it will receive plenty of sunlight, if you are using a solar-powered pump.
Prepare the basin or container. If you are using a container, drill a hole in the bottom of the container large enough to accommodate the tubing from the pump. If you are using a basin, you may need to create a stand or support to elevate the basin.
Install the pump. Place the pump in the basin or container and connect the tubing to the pump. Make sure that the pump is submerged in water.
Cover the pump and tubing. Place rocks or gravel around the pump and tubing to hide them from view.
Fill the fountain with water. Fill the basin or container with water until the water level is just below the rim of the fountain.
Turn on the pump. Plug in the pump or connect the solar panel to the pump. The water should start to circulate through the fountain.
Adjust the flow rate. If the water flow rate is too high or too low, adjust the flow rate by turning the knob on the pump.
