How to Make Outdoor Lounge Chair Cushions

Outdoor lounge chairs are a great way to relax and enjoy the outdoors, but they can be uncomfortable without cushions. Making your own cushions is a relatively easy and inexpensive way to add comfort and style to your outdoor space. Here are some tips on how to make outdoor lounge chair cushions:

1. Choose the right fabric

The fabric you choose for your cushions will depend on your personal style and the climate in which you live. If you live in a hot climate, you'll want to choose a fabric that is breathable and moisture-wicking, such as cotton or linen. If you live in a cold climate, you'll want to choose a fabric that is insulating, such as fleece or faux fur.

2. Measure your chair

Once you've chosen a fabric, you'll need to measure your chair to determine the size of the cushions you need. To do this, measure the length and width of the seat, as well as the height from the seat to the top of the back. Add 2 inches to each measurement to allow for seams.

3. Cut the fabric

Once you have your measurements, you can cut the fabric for your cushions. Cut two pieces of fabric for the seat cushion, and two pieces for the back cushion. For the seat cushion, cut the pieces 2 inches wider and 2 inches longer than the seat of the chair. For the back cushion, cut the pieces 2 inches wider and 2 inches higher than the back of the chair.

4. Sew the cushions

Once you've cut the fabric, you can sew the cushions. Start by sewing the two pieces of fabric for the seat cushion together, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Then, turn the cushion right side out and stuff it with batting or foam. Sew the two pieces of fabric for the back cushion together, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Leave a 6-inch opening in one of the seams for stuffing. Turn the cushion right side out and stuff it with batting or foam. Sew the opening closed.

5. Add ties

If desired, you can add ties to the cushions to help keep them in place. To do this, cut four pieces of fabric that are 1 inch wide and 18 inches long. Fold each piece of fabric in half lengthwise and press. Sew the raw edges together to create a loop. Attach the loops to the corners of the cushions, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance.

Your outdoor lounge chair cushions are now complete! Enjoy relaxing and enjoying the outdoors in comfort.
